The History of Sleepy Creek
Wine country in east central Illinois? Sure, why not! At least that's what Joe and Dawn Taylor said when starting second careers in the Illinois wine industry. Joe, having been self-employed most of his life, wanted to start something new and Dawn, having always worked for someone else was ready to try something new too. The result? Sleepy Creek Vineyards!
Joe and Dawn started the vineyard in 2002 and opened the winery in 2007. Growing 10 acres of grapes is hard but rewarding work, especially when the efforts result in a enjoyable glass of wine. We employ about 10 people and rely on numerous volunteers to help us get everything done. If you are interested in employment, email a cover letter and resume to info@sleepycreekvineyard.com
Purchasing our Wines
We currently sell our wine in our tasting room and at a few festivals every year. We also ship wine to select states. Click here to order. Want us to ship wine to you (or to someone
else as a gift) but your state isn't listed at the link above? Please
send us your request by email at info@sleepycreekvineyards.com or

What can you expect during a typical visit to Sleepy Creek?
There is no better
way to experience wine than right here from the source. You will often find Joe or Dawn behind the bar or one of the friendly staff pouring
wine and conducting tastings. Due to state law and effective Feb 1, 2012, we now offer three wine samples at no cost or you can taste them all for $3.
Discounts on purchases are available to Vermilion County educators with ID, Vermilion County Farm Bureau members and Purple Finger Club members. Case discounts of 12 or more bottles are available to everyone.
After your tasting, you can enjoy a glass or bottle of wine, a Goose Island craft beer or other specialty beer or soda, tea or coffee while browsing the gift shop, the upstairs art gallery or relaxing inside or outside. Bring a picnic or purchase some of Ludwig Farmstead Creamery Cheese or Ropp Jersey Cheese and crackers here. We also have some local honey and Brooke's Candy Co. chocolates. For insurance reasons, please do not bring your own alcohol onto our property. Also, drink responsibly! Lastly, if we
aren't too busy, we'd be happy to show you the winery and talk about the
wine making process.
What other activities can you enjoy?
Sleepy Creek is a
great destination to meet friends and socialize. We offer periodic live
music by original singers and songwriters, as well as other great
entertainment. Annual events include the Salt Fork River Art Festival, Freeky Creek Film Festival, Wieners and Wine, First Sundays and more. We also welcome Harvest Hosts members.
Our location is perfect for bridal showers, business meetings, other events and even weddings and receptions. And our newest adventure is the vacation rental we call the B & W (bed and wine). It's a rustic retreat right above our working winery. There are many attractions and activities in the area. Contact info@sleepycreekvineyards for more information or give Dawn a call at 217-733-0330.
