A Little About Sleepy Creek
Wine country in east central Illinois? Sure, why not! At least that's what Joe and Dawn Taylor said when starting second careers in the Illinois wine industry. Joe, having been self-employed most of his life, wanted to start something new and Dawn, having always worked for someone else was ready to try something new too. The result? Sleepy Creek Vineyards!
Joe and Dawn started the vineyard in 2002 and opened the winery in 2007. Growing 10 acres of grapes is hard but rewarding work, especially when the efforts result in a enjoyable glass of wine. We employ about 10 people and rely on numerous volunteers to help us get everything done. Your Sleepy Creek staff is friendly, helpful and always ready to serve you! If you are interested in employment at Sleepy Creek, email a cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Purchasing our Wines
We currently sell our wine in our tasting room and at a few festivals every year. We also ship wine to select states. Within IL, try our new Amazon Storefront. For other select states, including IL, click here to order. Want us to ship wine to you (or to someone else as a gift) but your state isn't listed at the link above? Unfortunately your state's law doesn't make it economically feasible. Want to know more about shipping wine in the land of the free? Go to http://freethegrapes.org/
What can you expect during a typical visit to Sleepy Creek?
There is no better way to experience wine than right here from the source at our vineyard. You will often find Joe or Dawn behind the bar or one of the friendly staff pouring wine and conducting tastings. Due to state law and effective Feb 1, 2012, we now offer three wine samples at no cost or you can taste them all for $3. Wine tastings are available daily up to 15 minutes prior to closing. For hours and details about our wine tastings for individuals and group experience tours, click HERE.
After your tasting, you can enjoy a glass or bottle of wine, a craft beer or soda, tea or coffee while browsing the gift shop, the upstairs art gallery or relaxing inside or outside. Bring a picnic or purchase some of Ludwig Farmstead Creamery Cheese or Ropp Jersey Cheese and crackers here. For insurance reasons, please do not bring your own alcohol onto our property. Also, drink responsibly! Last call is generally 15 minutes before closing and we'd appreciate you leaving the premises shortly after closing time.
And remember, don't drink and drive. Sip and stay at Sleepy Creek in our B&W Vacation Rental. Want to know more? Click here.
